Adrian Tracy is likely headed to IR after separating his shoulder last night.
With mandatory roster cuts coming, this move may actually be beneficial to the Giants.
The Giants weren’t likely to place Tracy on the main roster but rather send him to the practice squad. Of course, this would allow every other team to snatch him up during the course of the season.
Placing Tracy on IR will keep him contracted to the Giants while he can heal up and continue to absorb the information he will need to adapt to the pro game.

Unprepared, understaffed, under-pressure and uncertain this NY Giants team has what it takes. Now, I love a year when the NY Giants are flying below the radar. I love a year when the “big mouth” Jets are telling the world how great they are; however, 2010 is starting to concern the Big Blue.
Injuries – 5 players key players came into camp recovering from recent surgery and at least 10 more have been injured this camp. The offensive line is fragmented and the 2nd team defensive backs look, well….overwhelmed!

6th Rounder Adrian Tracy Also Signed
The Giants are slowly getting all of their draft choices under contract. Today they announced that fourth-round selection, LB Phillip Dillard of Nebraska and 6th round selection DE Adrian Tracy of William and Mary have come to terms with the team.
Today’s signings leave only DE Jason Pierre-Paul, DT Linval Joseph, OL Mitch Petrus and P Matt Dodge remaining to be signed. Last week, the Giants inked S Chad Jones of LSU.
According to Mike Garafolo of SNY and The Star Ledger, the Tracy deal is for four years at approximately $1.9 million. No specifics of Dillard’s deal have been released as of yet.

The Giants used their 6th round selection in this year’s NFL Draft on 6’3″, 248 lb William and Mary DE Adrian Tracy. He fits the typical prototype that Jerry Reese values in his draftees: a good citizen that can play football.
Reese likened Tracy to former Giant LB Reggie Torbor, but quickly cited that Tracy was “a better athlete.” Tracy played DE at William and Mary, but the Giants will probably use him as a SAM backer. Tracy was described by Reese as a “big, smart kid”, which is evident in this video interview shot before the 2009 season.

A “Tweener” According to Experts
From CDSdraft.com…
Nice size and wingspan. Similar to last years’ CAA DE phenom Lawrence
Sidbury of Richmond, but is flying further under the radar. Gets our nod as the CAA’s top DE prospect narrowly over JMU’s Adrian Tracy because of his size and improved play against the run. Makes tackles from the back side. Shows enough quickness and lateral agility to be looked at as a LB, while he has room to get bigger if left as a 4-3 pass rushing end. Comes hard off the edge, and fights down the LOS and ruins the stretch play. Scrapes well. Protects his legs, and plays with energy. Solid citizen.
