Multiple observers have praised Darius Reynaud’s performance in camp thus far. Last season’s disappointing kick returner and fourth-string running back has been practicing as a receiver this pre-season and the reports have been consistently positive.
The latest quote comes from CBS Sports’ Alex Raskin:
WR/KR/PR Darius Reynaud is continuing his impressive camp. He caught a bomb from QBSage Rosenfels for a TD, and even though he stands just 5-9, Reynaud has been effective catching passes along the sideline.
Reynaud has a tough road ahead of him to even make the roster, and his small stature won’t help him. Hakeem Nicks, Mario Manningham and Jerrel Jernigan are all locks to make the roster, and Domenik Hixon, Victor Cruz and Ramses Barden are all likely ahead of Reynaud. He could be battling the likes of Michael Clayton, Devin Thomas and Duke Calhoun for one roster spot, and that’s before we try to figure out where Steve Smith factors in to the equation.
Reynaud will need to impress in pre-season games, so he’ll be one to watch this Saturday.

In a week where the Giants made commitments in the direction of eleven players, there is one that baffles me to the core.
The Giants reportedly have re-signed KR Darius Renaud to a contract extension.
Which leads us all to ask: why?
Reynaud, acquired from the Vikings days before the opening game last season along with backup QB Sage Rosenfels, was well below the league average in both punt and kick returns.
Of the 33 NFL players who had 15 or more punt return attempts in 2010, Reynaud’s 5.7 yards per return was the lowest.
In the area of kickoff returns there were 39 players who had 20 or more attempts. Reynaud was 39th with a 18.4 average.
He was LAST in BOTH categories – an almost impossible feat. You have a better chance of getting a hole in one in golf and a 300 game in bowling in the same day…
I know how to read stats. I understand football. I understand business. I don’t understand this.
Someone please enlighten me…..

Newly acquired Giants QB Sage Rosenfels and WR Darius Reynaud are doing their best to brush up on the Giants’ playbook and the team’s way of doing things.
Rosenfels: “I’m excited to be here. Great team, great organization. I’m doing the best I can to learn this offense as quickly as possible, there’s a lot. If I have to play, I have to be ready. There’s no excuse to not be ready. I have to be in that playbook as much as I can, and that’s pretty much what I’m doing. I’m in the playbook, I’m watching film, just trying to learn this thing as much as I can.”
Reynaud: “It’s (the playbook) totally different from what we are doing in Minnesota. The schemes are totally different. As soon as I got here, they gave me this book, and I’ve been right at it ever since.”
