According to NFL.com, the Washington Redskins have promoted new Offensive Coordinator Jim Zorn to be their Head
Coach.
Ex-Giants Head Coach Jim Fassel was thought of to be the favorite candidate to land the job.
I feel for Fassel, the guy deserves another shot to coach. 58-53-1 with one Super Bowl appearance seems acceptable enough to land another NFL head coaching position. No? On the other hand, Fassel is probably better he does not have to work under Daniel Snyder and possibly be fired after a game or two.

Following the Giants celebration at City Hall in Manhattan, Steve Spagnuolo was taken to Daniel Snyder’s private plane so he could meet face to face with the Redskins owner to discuss their vacant head coaching position.
According to ESPN, Spagnuolo and Snyder spoke by phone for 90 minutes Monday night which was confirmed by two people familiar with the Redskins selection process.
However, ESPN’s John Clayton isn’t sold on Spags getting the job at this point and believes Jim Fassel will ultimately get the nod. Common sense would agree, the Skins were ranked 18th in the NFL in points per game this year compared to 11th in points allowed on defense.
“Knowing the Redskins’ management already has hired most of the coaching staff, Spagnuolo might wait until next year to get a head coaching job, but there is no question he is a short-timer in New York,” said Clayton.
