Know Your Rivals: Cowboys Sign Hamlin

According to the Associated Press, the Dallas Cowboys have signed Pro Bowl safety Ken Hamlin to a six-year, $39 million contract that included $15 million guaranteed with a $9 million signing bonus.
Hamlin was a second-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2003 NFL Draft and signed on with the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent on a one-year, $2.5 million deal. The 27-year old safety had a career high 5 interceptions to go along with 102 tackles during the 2007 campaign.

Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb wrote in his latest blog entry on Yardbarker that his shoulder that caused him to shut down during June passing camp is fine. “I’m feeling great, the shoulder is fine, and I can’t wait to get started this season.”
McNabb is working out in Arizona with fellow Eagles Brian Dawkins, LJ Smith, Jason Avant, Hank Baskett and Lorenzo Booker.

Redskins head coach Jim Zorn wants runningback Clinton Portis to carry the offense in 2008, especially during the opening month of the season, according to the Washington Times. Having Portis carry the offense for the first month will allow Jason Campbell to become more accustomed to the new passing game that Zorn is implementing into the team. As noted in the last Know Your Rivals post, Campbell is adjusting to his seventh offensive system in eight years.
