Giants Will Host David Carr

Mike Garafolo of the Star-Ledger has learned that the Giants will bring in former first overall pick QB David Carr. He will be visiting the team tomorrow night and Wednesday. The Giants are shopping around for a veteran backup quarterback for Eli Manning.

Carr, 28, was the first overall pick of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. He spent his first five season with Houston before being released after the 2006 season. He signed on to be the backup quarterback with Carolina and ended up starting four games for the Panthers. After taking over as the starter, Carr went down with a back injury and lost the starting job to 44-year old quarterback Vinny Testaverde. He regained the starting job, but went down with a concussion.
The best thing Carr has going for him is that Giants QB coach Chris Palmer was his offensive coordinator for 3 years in Houston.

Trent Green, who the Giants had been rumored to once have considered this postseason as a possible second stringer, has agreed to terms with the Rams. Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports that it is a three-year, $9 million contract.
Green will be reunited with Al Saunders, his former offensive coordinator in Kansas City.
