Who Will Go Second Overall?

ProFootballTalk.com reports that Rams team president John Shaw, General Manager Jay Zygmunt, coach Scott Linehan and executive vice president of player personnel Billy Devaney are close to a consensus on LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey being their pick at #2 overall.

Virginia defensive end Chris Long is second on the team’s board and Ohio State defensive end Vernon Gholston third.

The Saints, who have the 10th pick, are speculated to have interested in trading up to the Rams spot, as they are believed to be targeting Dorsey as well.

If the Rams take Dorsey, look for the Falcons to take Boston College QB Matt Ryan with the third overall pick. The Falcons prefer Dorsey but unless they can trade up or the Rams go with Virginia DE Chris Long instead, they will likely aim for Ryan, unless they elect to hold off on selecting a QB in the wake of strong combine performances by Michigan’s Chad Henne and Delaware’s Joe Flacco, who are likely to be available in later rounds.
