Giants 101: Stop Crying

...posted by Anthony De Rosa...

In a great post over at Giants 101, David Gruenbaum tells Giants fans to stop hanging their heads over Osi, and remember the great odds the Giants overcame last season to win it all.

Our attitude? If Big Blue’s 1 could trump Dallas’s 13 a year ago — in the Cowboys’ own stadium, in the playoffs – why can’t Big Blue’s none do the same to Dallas’s 13 this year? The coaches and players just need to suck it up 1 percent more.

Before anyone assumes the injury bug will hit Big Blue in 2008 as it didn’t before, think of all the players who were lost to injury last season. Finn, Kiwanuka, Shockey, and Ward all lost for the duration. Lots of time missed by Brandon Jacobs, Steve Smith, Sam Madison, Gibril Wilson, Sinorice Moss. Plaxico Burress hobbling through the season, to the point of ineffectiveness in some games. They overcame then. They can overcome now.

Great job by David, I highly recommend you read the entire post. If the Giants have proven anything, they have shown they have the character to overcome adversity. Few expected them to have the success they had last season, but they believed in themselves and have a ring to show for it.

The game is played on the field, between the lines, not in the minds of analysts and prognosticators. I’m looking forward to the Giants proving the doubters wrong all over again.

Game on, gentlemen.

Bloggers Not Buying New Cool Eli

...posted by Anthony De Rosa...

Apparently a Super Bowl championship wasn’t enough to convince some in the blogosphere that Eli Manning is the next rock star of the NFL. His cool is still under question by the likes of The Hater Nation who write:

Eli Messiah has clearly entered the “Ronald Miller post-break up with Cindy Mancini” phase of his career. Remember when Ronnie was walking around school in leather jackets, dress shirts with no sleeves, gelled hair and designer sunglasses? That is how ridiculous the Messiah looked on the sidelines last night, stroking his prepubescent beard while smacking his gum.

Sorry Eli, nobody is buying it.

Much like the inner dork still lurked in Ronald Miller’s soul, there is no way that you can escape your inner goofiness.

Money can’t buy you love, and a Super Bowl ring seemingly can’t buy you the respect of Hugging Harold Reynolds either, who had this to say about Eli’s recent status as magazine coverboy:

Put all the fancy 80’s suits on him you want. He’s still a stumbling, bumbling hick, who will never be very good, will forever have his hand held by daddy, will forever be in his brother’s shadow and will forever be beholden to his defense for his ring. It makes for a cute trick or treat costume though.

Ouch.

Anyway, as far as I’m concerned, he could be Wormser from Revenge of The Nerds out there. Just keep throwing those touchdowns and winning those rings Eli. Jealousy is a hell of a thing.
