It’s official: RB Ahmad Bradshaw will not play Sunday vs Philadelphia. Tom Coughlin is still hopeful that Bradshaw will be ready for next Monday night’s game in New Orleans..
“We are all hoping and we have to see. He needs to do some things on the practice field. I know the position of the medical staff, exactly, they are not quite ready to turn him loose.”
LB Michael Boley (hamstring) is still holding out hope that he can play Sunday, but he has not practiced and is listed as doubtful. LT Will Beatty (back) returned to practice today.
DE Justin Tuck did not practice and is questionable after getting his ankle stepped on yesterday in practice.
Coughlin did not say whether the team planned to activate recently reinstated DT Jimmy Kennedy this week.
Coughlin admitted that Danny Ware, who goes by the moniker DJ, has looked good in practice. He refuses to address him by that name, though.
“You mean Danny. I call him Dan or Danny, just to get him going. Yes and I think so. He is still productive. When you look at the stat sheet, he is still productive. He is a productive guy. The ability to play with more energy and when you need him in that clutch period, he has that extra gear.”
Eagles QB Michael Vick, who was rumored earlier to be ruled out of Sunday’s game is still listed as questionable on the injury report as is WR Jeremy Maclin.

For those of you who want to see Da’Rel Scott in at RB…it’s coming..
From Giants SNY insider Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger:
The Giants will head to San Francisco to face the league’s best run defense with Brandon Jacobs and D.J. Ware leading the way. Rookie Da’Rel Scott could see a few reps after getting one carry for 5 yards and a first down against New England.
Bradshaw hasn’t made any appearances on the practice field since he suffered the injury against the Miami Dolphins late last month.
“But he’s in every meeting,” coach Tom Coughlin said. “They don’t want him to stand around out here.”
Someone informed of the team’s thinking said Da’Rel Scott is in line to be the No. 1 kick returner on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.
The person, who requested anonymity because the Giants haven’t announced who will be their returner, said the likelihood of Ahmad Bradshaw‘s being sidelined again and Ware’s being the No. 2 back are factors.
“We have a lot of confidence in Da’Rel, someone who we’ve been working with since day one,” special teams coach Tom Quinn said. “We’ll see how it plays out the rest of the week. … We’d like to put the ball in his hands at some point.”
The team is excited about the potential duo of Scott and Jernigan.
“Jernigan’s a guy we want to see run the ball and Da’Rel’s a guy…” Quinn said trailing off. “So we’ve been hoping to work them in and get to the point where Jerrel could be the punt returner and Da’Rel could be the kickoff returner.

Some quick hits from Tuesday…
Giants’ RB Ahmad Bradshaw has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Buffalo Sunday….
- Bradshaw rushed for 104 yards and a career-high three touchdowns in the Giants’ 27-24 victory over Buffalo.
- Scored all three of New York’s touchdowns against the Bills, registering a one-yard rushing TD in each of the first three quarters.
- Broke free for a 30-yard run in the fourth quarter, his longest of the day, to help set up Lawrence Tynes’ game-winning 23-yard field goal with 1:32 remaining.
- Accounted for 26 of the Giants’ 31 rushing attempts (excluding kneel downs).
- Leads the Giants with 390 rushing yards and five touchdowns this season.
- In his fifth season from Marshall, this is Bradshaw’s second career Offensive Player of the Week Award (Week 4, 2010).
- He is the second Giant to be honored this season (Eli Manning, Week 3)
WR Ramses Barden, who has been on PUP since August, says he is going to play in the Giants’ next game vs the Dolphins Oct 30th:
“Mentally, I plan on playing. I plan on being in the game plan and I plan on contributing in whatever way the team sees necessary. I can’t wait. By the time next week comes around, it would have been 11 ½ months.”
The Giants have a few days off, and here is what some of them plan to do on their “vacation.” MORE
The Philadelphia Eagles, who acquired the running back Ronnie Brown in August, traded him to the Detroit Lions today. In return, the Eagles obtained running back Jerome Harrison and a 2013 seventh-round draft pick. MORE

The Giants rely on their running game to wear down defenses down. Without Brandon Jacobs and the offensive line struggling due to injury, the team turned to RB Ahmad Bradshaw to carry them on his back against the Bills, who have been pedestrian against the run this season.
He did. With 104 yards rushing and three one-yard TD dives, Bradshaw had his best day as a Giant, rivaling his 2007 breakout game which was also against Buffalo.
Bradshaw was especially candid in his post game presser after logging in the first 100-yard performance by a Giant this season…

The Giants are normally at the top of the league in rushing offense and yards per attempt. But this is not a normal year. Through four games, the Giants rank 24th in the NFL in rushing averaging only 87.5 yards per game on the ground.
In the days of Earth, Wind and Fire the team boasted around five yards a carry for several seasons. Those days seem long gone now as the team is only gaining 3.3 yards per attempt in 2011.
Currently, there is no Wind or Fire, just Earth – as in down to earth. They have literally been nothing more than three yards and cloud of rubber pellets.
The reasons? There are a few. The Giants have a retooled offensive line, featuring a new center (David Baas), that has not fired off the ball as well as their historic predecessors. They also have a rookie fullback (Henry Hynoski) and a green TE (Jake Ballard) in their lineup this year. In addition, as good as their wideouts are, they don’t block very well and have problems sealing off the corners.
It also could be that they abandon the run too soon in favor of the pass. And why shouldn’t they? Eli Manning is lighting it up through the air.
RB Ahmad Bradshaw isn’t concerned. He thinks the Giants will have to turn to the run game sooner rather than later and that old rhythm will return.
“We haven’t had the right touches and that is just the way the game goes,” said Bradahaw. “We have had to open up our passing game with a lot of opponents and I think the running game is fine where it is at. It will be great once we get the amount of touches we expect in later games.”
With Brandon Jacobs uncertain with a swollen knee this week, the Giants may finally turn to explosive rookie Da’Rel Scott, but he’ll have to leapfrog perennial disappointment Danny Ware first.
Scott is a home run hitter that can boost that yards per carry average up in a hurry. But the Giants don’t seem to be in a hurry. Scott has been inactive for the first four games. Let’s hope that changes soon…

Over all it won’t matter to Eli who gets cuts today because the offense is pretty much set. Yes, Manning is hoping for a free agent Tight End to find his way to the East Rutherford and if he cuts down his interceptions 2011 can be a playoff type of year. His arsenal of weapons is slightly different from last year but still explosive.
Ranking Eli’s best weapons:
1. WR – Hakeem Nicks – The 2009 1st round draft pick has come as advertised. One could say he has been sniffing around pro bowl status during his two years in the NFL. Nicks is 6′ 1″ and 215 lbs and his game is very similar to Michael Irvin the former Dallas Cowboy and now Hall of Fame inductee.
This budding superstar caught 79 balls for 1052 yards and 11 TD’s in 2010. He has huge hands allowing him to stab balls out of the air and rip them defenders hands as you saw vs. the Jets this pre-season. He averages 15 yards a catch over 2 years and is explosive with the ball. Expect 1250 yards and 13 TD’s if healthy.
2. WR – Mario Manningham – drafted in 2008, Mario Manningham has matured as a player and developed into the home run threat the New York Giants need. Over the last two years Manningham has shown the big play ability he displayed in college and is now entrenched as Eli’s #2 target.
Manningham has displayed great body control and athleticism working the sidelines and has made a habit of hauling in the deep ball. With out Steve Smith, #82 will see time at slot receiver which will mean Manningham needs to run more crisp routes with doubles moves and rely less on pure speed. Expect 975 yards and 8 TD’s if healthy.
3. RB – Ahmad Bradshaw – the 7th round pick in the 2007 draft can be as explosive as any running back in the NFL and has a handful of big runs in him every week. He may not be as durable as some and he surely drops the ball on the carpet way too much, but he’s a great weapon when in the game. Did you see the stiff arm he delivered during the Jets pre-season game. Nice!

Did you ever see a stat that just completely blew you away. I just did.
The Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin era started mid way through the 2004 season and ever since then this team has played like world beaters for the first have of the year. In the past six NFL seasons the NY Giants have incredibility won 59 games…that is a .615 winning percentage. Impressive!
So what happens during the 2nd half of the season that continues to crumble this team? One could say that Eli Manning brings the team down with his erratic second half performances; however, he is not alone. The entire team takes a nose dive. All skilled position players of the New York Giants produce less in last 8 games than the first 8 games.
That is a scary 6 year trend.

The first time I ever met Brandon Jacobs, I immediately said to myself, “This guy is a running back?” I couldn’t fathom even the possibility of trying to tackle him if he were running full speed…and we are basically the same dimensions….
In years past, Jacobs has scared the life out of many a defender (Ray Lewis included), but recently he has been slowed by injuries and lack of playing time, which was lost to his little “brother”, Ahmad Bradshaw. These days, with Bradshaw hurting again, Jacobs is ready to resume his role as the featured back in the Giants’ offense…and the way he is running this summer defenses will have no choice but to brace themselves.
Jacobs met with the media outside TIMEX yesterday:

Giants’ RB Ahmad Bradshaw faced the media today and boy, did they have questions for him! After a well-publicized free-agent stint, Bradshaw is back with the Giants after signing a four-year, $18 million deal the other day.
He is happy healthy and ready to resume his Giants’ career, with much thanks to backfield mate and “brother” Brandon Jacobs, who took a cut in salary in order for Bradshaw to be signed.

Tom Coughlin met the media after practice on this muggy night in the NYC area. Fans here have been sparse thus far at training camp, making this season more surreal as it unfolds, One thing that has not been sparse: headlines.
The Giants made some moves today, most notably the re-signing of RB Ahmad Bradshaw and the granting of permission to
DE Osi Umenyiora to seek a trade. Coughlin fielded questions on both:
“The Osi issue, I don’t really have anything to comment on because it’s not resolved. I would not be the one to comment about that. I think at some point we’ll have all of those answers for you, but tonight I don’t have them….
Right now, to be honest with you, it’s not (a distraction). We wouldn’t want to go a whole lot further than this, obviously. We want everybody focused on making our team better. The sooner that all of these things get resolved and we get Osi back on the field, the better we’re going to be.”
