DeSean Jackson‘s Week 15 Punt Return vs Giants Voted Top NFL Play For 2010
In New York, the Giants’ Week 15 collapse vs the Eagles has been called “infamous”. In Philadelphia it is being heralded as the “New Miracle at the Meadowlands.”
Either way, the last eight minutes of the Eagles’ 38-31 historic comeback against the Giants will never be forgotten.
Yesterday the NFL revealed the winner of this year’s GMC Never Say Never Moment. As you can guess, it went to Jackson. Why not?
Why not make this off-season as painful as possible? This is a play that topped off the greatest comeback/collapse in NFL history (in my eyes, anyway).
It’s not bad enough that the Giants’ season was shattered by this game. It’s not bad enough that the Jets almost got to the Super Bowl. It’s not bad enough there are snowbanks on the streets of New York the size of three-story walkups that will still be around by the time the Mets are eliminated from the playoffs….
I see this collapse in my sleep. I don’t need to see it anymore. Hopefully, this will be the end of it for now.
Never say never….I say never again.

Four Giants have been named to the NFL’s All-Pro second team: DEs Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck; safety Antrel Rolle and guard Chris Snee.
Tuck, Snee and Rolle will be participating in the Pro Bowl in Hawaii this coming Sunday. Osi was not elected to the Pro Bowl but likely would not have gone since he opted to have hip surgery last week..

House keeping.
Whether there is football or not the New York Giants have some house keeping to take care of. Pay Barry Cofield.
On a defensive line that was one of the most dominating in the NFL in 2010, how could the New York Giant not pay Barry Cofield? Cofield is a very intelligent player from Northwestern University and has made a solid contribution to this team since being drafted in 2006.
Barry is a very hard worker and won the starting nose tackle position in his first season. He was the first Giants rookie defensive player to start every game since linebacker Lawrence Taylor in 1981.

According to ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk……..
Center Shaun O’Hara has pulled out of the Pro Bowl since he will undergo surgery. O’Hara had ankle and foot injuries and played in just six games this season. Carolina Panthers center Ryan Kalil will take his roster spot on the NFC Pro Bowl team..
It is absolutely the right move here for O’Hara……knowing the kind of guy he is, there’s no way he feels he’s worthy of the spot after only playing in six games this year. Plus, he’s not physically up to it and needs to get his health issues in order before next season.
With O’Hara, Rich Seubert and Adam Koets all coming off surgery, you would have to think the Giants will be looking for help / depth at center in the off-season.

from our friend Zach Berman of the Star-Ledger
The Eagles host the Packers this afternoon in a game between two 10-6 teams that beat the Giants, who also finished 10-6.
And whatever body part coach Tom Coughlin suggests critics can kiss, he will watch today’s game with a notepad while the two teams that benefited most from the Giants’ final three weeks begin the postseason.
The Giants’ admirable record included wins in four of their final six games. The two losses, though, were to the Eagles and the Packers. If the Giants won one, they’d be playing this afternoon. If the Giants beat the Eagles, they could even be hosting the game.

Every body loves a “hot” coordinator. And right now every body loves Perry Fewell…including San Francisco, Cleveland, Denver, & Carolina!
So, if the man who put the “Crunch” back into “Crunch Bunch” leaves for a well deserved head coaching job…who’s on the Hot Seat to take his place on the sidelines for the Giants in 2011? If you look at history…Tom Coughlin usually keeps things close to the vest, utilizing coaches he is already familiar with.
Some have coached for him…some have coached against him, but I don’t see him leaning too far from the center of road. If the position bcomes available there are a few names that have already jumped out as leading candidates.

Tom Coughlin addressed his team in a closed-door meeting following Sunday’s season finale win in Washington, and as ESPN New York reports, the Giants’ coach had a message for the critics.
In his postgame address to the players recorded by cameras for Showtime’s “Inside the NFL,” Coughlin praised the Giants and attacked those who thought anything less of the team’s 10-6 postseason-less finish.
“Outstanding,” Coughlin said in the locker room at FedEx Field after the 17-14 win over the Redskins. “Outstanding finish to the ballgame. We did our part, OK? That’s all I can ask you to do. Hey, from the bottom of my heart and everybody’s, we have a 10-6 season! A 10-win season in the NFL, OK? And they can kiss my [butt], OK? They can line up and kiss my [butt]. It’s not an easy thing to do.”
A player is then heard saying, “Can we quote you on that, coach?”
Coughlin replied: “You can quote me on a lot more than that. The priest is here or I’d say a few more things.”
