Report: Gronkowski Probably Won’t Practice This Week

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Patriots’ All-Pro TE Rob Gronkowski will not practice this week due to the high-ankle sprain he sustained in the AFC Championship Game last Sunday vs Baltimore.

Per a league source, Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski indeed has a “classic” high ankle sprain.  The source says that Gronkowski, who didn’t practice last week, probably won’t practice at all before the game.

But the source believes Gronkowski will play, even though it’s currently believed that he’ll need arthroscopic surgery on the ankle after the game.

It will be tough for Gronkowski to do his thing in that condition. He will be severely limited unless he’s a lot tougher than we think. These injuries take four weeks at the minimum to begin healing properly.

Gronkowski, along with Wes Welker and Aaron Hernandez, have become Tom Brady’s new cadre of weapons. But “Gronk” has been Brady’s main big-play target – his new Randy Moss, scoring a record 18 TDs this season.
