THE LATEST ON TRADE RUMORS INVOLVING REDSKINS’ DT ALBERT HAYNESWORTH

From The Washington Post:

The Redskins resume preparations for playing the Cowboys today at Redskins Park — you might have heard that it’s Dallas Week — and as they head to work, there’s no sign that the big story — you might have heard they’d like to part ways with Albert Haynesworth — is going away.

“I got a hint last night,” said Chris Mortensen on ESPN’s “Mike and Mike”show, “that other teams have been called” by the Redskins regarding a trade involving Haynesworth, who is regarded as being something of a pill by his head coach. Mortensen adds that a deal is probably not doable.

Redskins General Manager Bruce Allen denied the talk Tuesday and continued to do so today. According to a tweet by Larry Weisman of the Redskins: “#Redskins GM Bruce Allen in phone call to WTOP radio denied shopping DT Albert Haynesworth. Rumors have been abundant.”

And the NFL Network’s Scott Hanson, reporting from Redskins Park, tweeted: “Fwiw: My producer just told me Haynesworth was one of the last players to arrive today at Redskins Park.”

More from Yahoo! Sports:

“The Titans and Redskins initially discussed a Haynesworth trade in April during the NFL Draft, with the Titans offering a fourth-round pick,” The Tennessean reports. This next round of conversations started this past weekend, according to the paper. However, now the Redskins want “at least a second-round pick, and the Titans aren’t willing to go that high,” The Tennessean reports.

USA TODAY reports on the Titans’ interest in making a deal:

Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher admitted Tuesday that the team would entertain a potential trade to bring DT Albert Haynesworth back from the Washington Redskins.

“If they’re willing to look into the possibility of dealing him, of course we’ll listen to them,” Fisher said, via The Nashville City Paper. “We listen to those types of things almost every day.”

I would certainly kick the tires on a Haynesworth deal if I were Jerry Reese.

Mike Shanahan told reporters the following this afternoon:

“Albert will be with us this week. For sure.”
