The Star Ledger’s Mike Garafolo on the roster cuts Saturday….

“..it wasn’t bad news for all players Saturday. Cruz and Duke Calhoun made the team as undrafted free agents. Cruz, who scored three touchdowns against the Jets in the preseason opener, said he would probably cry if he made the team. “Yeah, I cried. I definitely cried,” Cruz said by phone from his mother’s house. “I tried to fight it back, but it didn’t work.” READ

Judy Battista of the New York Times wrote a nice piece on DE Justin Tuck….

“…as the Giants start this season hoping to rediscover their defensive prowess, Tuck seems ambivalent about assuming Strahan’s other job. When linebacker Antonio Pierce followed Strahan into retirement after last season, the two loudest and most influential voices had vacated the Meadowlands, leaving Tuck’s soft-spoken credibility in their wake..” READ

“Bear Pascoe was one of the cuts even though he was the only tight end to make it all the way through training camp without experiencing any sort of physical problem. For now the Giants have only two tight ends, Kevin Boss and injured Travis Beckum (neck, groin), meaning they’ll be scouting the waiver wire for another able-bodied tight end.” READ
