Kiwi, Like Osi, Is Stressing Team Over Self

by John Fennelly on August 31st, 2010 at 6:44 pm

Giants’ former first-round pick DE Mathias Kiwanuka is ready to do whatever it takes to help the Blue win. He and Osi Umenyiora will split time at DE, but Kiwi will also find himself dropping back as a LB in some formations. He spoke to reporters today….

Q: You personally came into camp and everybody was questioning who was going to start at (defensive) end. Does it make a difference at this point?
A: No. I said before that the offseason is all about the individual. You spend the time in the offseason trying to ready yourself individually and you focus on what you have to focus on as an individual. But once the season starts, once camp comes, you’ve got to put all that aside and it’s whatever is better for the team. For us, we know that if we win a championship then everybody is going to be happy, and that’s the only goal that we have.

Unfortunately, both like playing more for Fewell than they do for Coughlin (who is old and farty enough to be a grandfather to most of these players)
