Sorgi Holding Out Hope He Can Play This Year

by John Fennelly on August 30th, 2010 at 3:07 pm

Jim Sorgi, the Giants’ backup QB, is a at crossroads.  His throwing shoulder is still hurting with opening day just two weeks away.

Will the Giants wait the injury out, or will they place him on IR, ending his season.  Sorgi is hopeful the former of those two is the his outcome.  The other alternative – getting released – is another reality Sorgi may have to face.

Q: Chad Pennington had this same injury and was done for the year in September. What makes yours different?
A: I don’t know exactly what his was. I don’t know if his came out or what not. I don’t think mine tore enough to dislocate the shoulder or it come out of the socket at all. I know you need time for it to get down and the scar tissue to heal and stuff like that. I’m assuming that if it doesn’t get better over however much time, four or six weeks, then I’ll have to get it taken care of.

Q: You probably won’t be able to practice this week then:
A: Probably not. Today I will not.
