Giants Claim WR/KR Chris Davis Off Waivers
A Possible Replacement For Domenik Hixon?
The Giants were awarded WR/KR Chris Davis off waivers today. Davis was cut by the Cincinnati Bengals yesterday.
The addition of Davis means the Giants will have 80 players on their roster again – the league maximum. Unsigned draft picks do not count towards the roster total at this point of the season.
The Giants currently have two draft choices left to be signed: first round selection DE Jason Pierre-Paul and second-rounder DT Linval Joseph.
More about Davis from Chuck Carroll at FootballNewsNow.com…..
The third-year player signed with the team as a free agent in March after two seasons with the Tennessee Titans in 2007 and 2008.
Davis, who played his college ball at Florida State, was thought of as a long shot to make the roster after the team signed Antonio Bryant and Jordan Shipley.
He bounced around the league a bit last season, being released by the Titans after reaching an injury settlement prior to the start of the regular season due to a hamstring injury and getting arrested for DUI. He also worked out for the St. Louis Rams, but was not signed.
