Reese Says It All By Saying Nothing

GM Dances With Media At Presser

Jerry Reese should have been a mobster. When the hot lights are on him under intense interrogation, he never cracks.

Today was no different. With the draft a week away and everyone and their grandmother posting mock drafts to the internet, Reese kept his cool and said very little….

Here is what he divulged (courtesy of our friends who were at the presser in-person).

Pat Hanlon: “Reese on impact of combine performance: ‘we’re looking for football players, not gymnasts…’”

Ralph Vacchiano: “Reese: “I think we can improve (through draft) at every position, not just LB.” …”

Paul Dottino: “…actual info? team is about ready to put together its final draft board… as usual, will target 4 or 5 guys at their spot (15)..”

Patricia Traina:  “JR said he’s confident with the LBs he has but wants to see them step up. Said his confidence won’t stop the team from looking..”

Mike Garafolo: “not much info from him (Reese). Did say he saw flashes from Sintim + expects a lot from him this yr..”

Nothing new, but I guess that is a good thing.  You don’t want Reese to tip your hand here by spilling you guts over which players you may target in the draft.  Not with a week to go.  Corporate espionage rules must apply here.  An information lockdown is in effect so speculate away because the Giants are doing little and saying even less about their plans.

Once again, for all you doubters….I told you over and over again that he likes the LBs he has in house.  Yes, they will take a LB in the draft, but one of those three (Goff, Kehl or Wilkinson) will be the Giants’ MLB on opening day.

You are right, he is damn good at revealing nothing during draft time.

You already said that there is no way of knowing what he plans to do. Plus, if he likes the guys he has, why would he draft another linebacker? Would he do it for defensive depth, or because it is a need?

I can’t wait for draft night.

True…I believe you upgrade where you can, but in all fairness, these guys never did get a real opportunity….he’s going to give it to them, but that doesn’t mean he won’t draft a LB somewhere along the line

I think he will give them a shot especially if he believes Lee or weatherspoon could slip to them in the second round or possibly trade up to snag them. Lee or weatherspoon might be too high to take with the 15h pick. Plus, as I have been trumpeting over and over again I think the Offensive line is truly a biger need right now. Suebert and Mcken where just not cutting it last year which effected the run game as much as jacobs being hurt. If two of our offensive linemen are falling off that is a big concern for a team that rely on the run and has a pocket QB. Beaty and O’hara, and Snee are only as good as their partners. I say take Mike Iupati at G or a top OT with the 15. If you take a Olinemen at 15 you are taking someone ready to perform right away. Even Mclain would not be able to just come in and perfom. Dominant Offensive linemen transfer over to the pro game faster.

How about Anthony Davis from Rurgers if he is around..?

I actually really like the Anthony Davis idea. It would not be a bad way to go at all. He has the ability to play LT, and he would be an awesome RT.

I also do not think Spoon will slip to the second round. There is no way he slips that far. None.
