Giants Could Trade Up For Spiller

by Rich Resch on March 29th, 2010 at 12:51 pm

Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk believes that certain teams, including the Dolphins and Giants, could consider trading up into the top ten to draft Clemson RB C.J. Spiller.

RB is certainly not the Giants’ biggest need, but Spiller is the type of game changing running back that can take it to the house on any play; the kind of player John Fennelly suggested that the Giants could use in his last post.

I personally love Spiller, and I believe he has the abilities to do some of the things Chris Johnson does, although I could go either way on trading up to draft him.  If he fell to the Giants at 15, I would love to snatch him up (even though he doesn’t fill a huge need…I like him that much).  But to trade up for him and possibly lose another valuable pick…I’m not sure…

BAD MOVE. I dont care if this guy is the next MIKE TURNER, LT, Or PETTERSON. How many championships do these guys have for their FLASH. ZERO. For the fantasy nerds its great but i want championships. I bet you Barry sanders would trade all his stats for Emmit smith any day a long with all those rings emmitt has. The Giants play smash mouth and they should stick to this winning formula. So what they had one bad year that does not mean we follow the Raiders formula of drafting the fastest flashest player possible. A great OFFensive line can make any running back look like an all star look at Ward after leaving. THe Giants should grab a Top Tier Offensive line men and watch the holes open once again. DO THE RIGHT THING AND PASS GIANTS!! Stick to Lunch pale football and leave the Flash to the Raiders and Chargers who have yet to gain anything for their so called homerun hitters. Vick and LT’s Flash was sooo sucessful in Atlanta and San diago that they both were on top of the fantasy charts, made big money and there teams will be better off without them. We have our change of pace back in Bradshaw, Ware, and Brown thats enough. The balance exists already and there is no need for panic. This would be a Flashy Panic move on the Giants part and most likely will bring another Fat ZERO in the history of Flashy players selected high in the draft.

Well, if Spiller is there, I think the Giants would have to think long and hard about that option.

I also think that trading up for Spiller would be a foolish thing to do. There is too much talent for the Giants not to stay true to the board.

I might be willing to go BPA this draft. There is so much talent, that I think its a worthwhile strategy.

However, I would love them to trade down then snag Weatherspoon.
