Rams, Lions Looking to Deal…but are the Giants?

by John Fennelly on February 23rd, 2010 at 4:20 pm

Here you go rumorheads……the St. Louis Rams and the Detroit Lions who hold the top two selections in the upcoming NFL Draft are both open to trading down.

Rams GM Billy Devaney told Peter King and Carl Banks of NFL Sirius Radio….“We’re looking for picks. We really need to continue to restore this roster. We started that process two years ago, and we still have a ways to go yet. We’re not kidding anybody. So sure, we would be open to acquiring more picks.”

The Lions are in a similar situation. They have a long way to go to become competitive and need to bring in as many able bodies as possible.  There have been rumblings that they will move down at the right price as well.

This is good news for anyone looking for a defensive tackle.  This year’s draft has two possible game changers  - Nebraska’s Ndamukong Suh and Oklahoma’s Gerald McCoy.  Either player would look stunning in blue.

The question remains, will the Giants make such a bold move to secure one of these players? Also – what would they have to give up?  Osi Umenyiora? Ahmad Bradshaw? Two first rounders? Stay tuned….

If the Giants are going to be moving up, I’d much rather them target Safety Eric Berry. Some think he’s the best player in the draft, and safety is a bigger need than tackle.

I COMPLETELY AGREE I said the same thing a couple days ago in a post on this blog. I know the top two DT are very good but that is a high price to pay when there are a good amount of solid DT later in the draft. There is not A Safety even close to Berry to be found in the draft. I would rather trade up take berry and get a A plus Saftey and a B grade DT then a A plus DT and nothing else cus we gave up the house. Remember when the Jets traded up for DT and that failed badly. I would not sacrafice so many picks and money. To get berry you would have get into the 4, 5 or 6 spot but i stay out of that top 3 money.

With the Giants obvious closness with Spags, I would be ECSTATIC if they could trade up to the first spot. Get Suh, and instantly have the D lihne we thought theyd always have. It would cover up for any defeciancies in the DB, like they did in 2007. How about this- Bradshaw, pick #15, the 3rd rounder for the 1st pick. Rams could use the electricity to pair with the always banged up due to too much workload Steven Jackson. It would be a win win and I would go crazy to see this happen and see Suh in Giant blue

How about this for a trade offer to the Rams? G-Men give up Osi a 2rd and a 5th for their 1st.. we pick up Suh with their 1st and McClain with our 1st and steal Darren Sharper from the Saints(although I don’t see the Saints letting him go) CAN ANYONE SAY THATS NOT THE PERFECT TEAM?? I SMELL DYNASTY!!

With all the holes we have, we can’t afford to trade picks away. I would love to get Suh, but we also need a Mike backer, and a Safety.
