Saints Won’t Franchise Sharper

by Rich Resch on February 22nd, 2010 at 6:02 pm

According to ESPN, the Saints will not franchise safety Darren Sharper, allowing him to hit the open market.

The Giants could use a safety or two…just saying…

And if he’s on the Giants he can’t pick off Eli and run it back for touchdowns…Well….At least not in an actual game……

Good point Big John, but I’m going to take it one step further.

Because of Sharper’s ridiculous ability to catch everything Manning throws and bring it back for a touchdown, the Giants should sign Sharper and play him at Wide Receiver. The Manning to Sharper combination will be dynamite. I’m thinking 100 receptions, 1500 yards and 100 touchdowns.

My two top free agent picks once the season ended were Dansby and Shaper.. I think Shaper would be a great addition not only for his skill but to add some veteran leadership in the Secondary and also Kenny Phillips is young but seems to be very promising. Under Shaper’s wing he might take him to the next level. Even though Shaper is getting up there in age, he’s still one of the top Safeties in the league and even if he’s only got 1-2 years left I think he’d bring some experience for a very young Secondary. And well Giant’s HAVE to get a veteran MLB I’m sorry but they need a veteran LB in there not a high draft choice. Don’t get me wrong I’d love us to draft a Brandon Spikes but they need a leader. I think they should pick up both of them. As for the D-Line with Canty being healthy (hopefully) and Jay Alford back and hopefully Osi putting in a good effort this year I think we’ll be good there. Maybe get someone from the draft as well.
