Giants News: Sheridan Fired

DC Let Go After Tumultuous Inaugural Season

The Giants have announced that defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan has been fired.

Sheridan, who many feel is to blame for the Giants’ poor defensive performance this season, took over the defense when Steve Spagnuolo left last year to become the head coach of the St. Louis Rams.

The Giants surrendered 427 points this season, a franchise-high for a 16-game schedule.  They also allowed opponents 40 or more points in a game five times, another infamous franchise record.

I’m glad to see Sheridan gone. He looked lost after numerous plays, he lost the confidence from his defense, and his coaching on defense was atrocious. The numbers speak for themselves. I do acknowledge they had players on IR and hurt during the season, but the active players looked confused while on the field. Some didn’t know who they were covering, lost the sense of tackling.

The problem now is: Who will be the new Defensive Coordinator for the Giants? Is there anyone out there that fits the Giants mold and can bring back quality run stopping defense and also improve our secondary?

There are several candidates. Like I said in my piece today, it will be someone who can get that pass rush back on track

I would love to see Spags come back, not that it would happen. The Rams = yikes.
