Philadelphia Eagles: Eagles TE Brent Celek has earned the extension he just received from the Philadelphia Eagles.
Eagles president Joe Banner has rewarded the young TE with a six-year extension. Celek currently leads the Birds in receptions with 54 and second to only DeSean Jackson in receiving yards with 601.
I gotta be honest here, Celek really has played outstanding this season. He’s definitely on pace to be a pro-bowler and is ultimately the TE option Donovan McNabb has been waiting his whole career to have. Skill-wise, he’s probably no better than our very own Kevin Boss…however he’s getting the looks and making the most out of them.
Dallas Cowboys: QB Tony Romo and WR Miles Austin took a little break from the NFL this weekend. The two decided that since they don’t have any game to prepare for that they’d head over to Vegas for a little vacation. It was reported on ESPN.com that after Romo attended a “private function” on Friday night that he reported back to the Dallas facility the next morning for treatment on his back.
Both Austin and Romo were not available for comment.
I’m not sure of what to make of this one. Most likely, there’s nothing really to make of it. BUT….that’s what the media is for!
If the Cowboys lose this Sunday in New Jersey, you could almost guarantee the media will point at this vacation as taking away from his “focus” on the game.
Washington Redskins: With RB Clinton Portis set to miss his 4th straight game with a concussion and the ‘Skins also no longer able to have a winning year this season, head coach Jim Zorn is trying not to lose the motivation to win.
“I certainly am accountable for our football season — no question about it — and I’ll be held accountable. It’s awful,” Jim Zorn said, adding a bit of nervous laughter. “It really is. But I’m trying not to lose heart myself, I want to stay positive. Our players inspire me, our coaching staff inspires me because we’re working hard to try to make good decisions and sound decisions.
Keep your head up Jim. Next year, I’m sure you’ll get an opportunity to be some sort of coordinator or coach for a better team.
I for one feel bad for this guy. First of all, the Redskins are a mess from top to bottom. When I say top to bottom, I mean from the owner all the way down to the waterboy. It’s a team with a wreck-less owner and a ridiculous string of bad luck in terms of injuries.

Jon, i hate saying this cause I despise the Eagles, but there is no doubt that Celek is a much more fluid TE then Boss. Celek is excellent at getting separation, and is an excellent pass receiving TE. Yet another pro bowler to add to the NFC east which already boasts Whitten and Cooley. Boss is a nice TE, very big, soft hands, but not nearly as good at getting the separation the other three do. He is more of a throw back TE, whereas Celek is almost a wideout playing TE. I’m not knocking Boss, just the opposite, unfortunately i’m praising Celek who is now playing with a tear in one hand.
