philadelphia-eagles-logo1Philadelphia Eagles: Originally the first candidate to fill the void at MLB left by Stewart Bradley’s injury, LB Joe Mays looks like he’s going to get another shot to prove himself. The Eagles have had trouble all season filling the void left by Bradley and to this point, have tried seven different linebackers at the position; None of which seem to have worked.

Philadelphia for the most part has been pretty solid defensively all season. Their one problem all season however has been stopping plays through the middle; an area that may have been considered a strong point before Bradley went down. Mays had his shot before everyone else and lost it before the season even started. I don’t expect this newest experiment to go too smoothly.

washingtonredskinsWashington Redskins: It seems every time I write this weekly NFC update on the Redskins that there are more injuries to report…and to crucial players. This time, it comes as no surprise that RB Clinton Portis will be out his second straight game because of the concussion he suffered. The more notable, and perhaps more important injury this time is to DT Albert Haynesworth.

In the Redskins win last week, Albert sprained his left ankle and as of yesterday, was still in a walking boot. Coach Jim Zorn said that he won’t know Haynesworth’s status for the game until Sunday.

cowboysDallas Cowboys: Starting free safety Ken Hamlin is out 2-4 weeks with a high ankle sprain. Starting in his place, and making his first career NFL start will be 2007 seventh round pick Alan Ball. Ball has played spot duty at both cornerback and safety this season however he was originally drafted as a CB.

With Ball thrusted into the starting position, expect role in special teams to decline. Coach WAde Phillips said that both rook safety Mike Hamlin and backup CB Orlando Scandrick will take over his duties on kickoffs and punts.
