Sunday Night Notes

Falcons’ Loss is Giants’ Gain

The Atlanta Falcons’ 28-19 loss to the Carolina Panthers this afternoon possibly re-opened some doors for the Giants.

Next Sunday’s showdown with Atlanta at the Meadowlands is now one with enhanced playoff ramifications.  Both teams enter the game at 5-4, and the winner not only goes to 6-4, but gains the head-to-head edge should a playoff spot come down to a two-team tiebreaker between the two.

Denver Thanksgiving Night Game a Bad Deal For Jints

After the Giants play the Falcons next Sunday, they will be pressed for time in their preparation for their Thanksgiving night matchup in Denver.

The team usually takes Monday off or practices only lightly.  But next week they will have to be on a flight to Denver on Wednesday morning the latest to give them at least a day to acclimate to the rarified Rocky Mountain air.

That means a short practice week against an opponent who is tough to beat in their building. Giants’ co-owner John Mara has filed a grievance with the NFL over the scheduling.

Why he waited so long to do so is beyond me.  He should have done this before the season began.

Topsy-Turvy day for NFC East

The Redskins shocked the aforementioned Broncos in the Nation’s capital this afternoon, 27-17.  Bronco QB Kyle Orton left the game with an injury.  Any given Sunday, as they say…..

The Eagles and Cowboys have their respective hands full with San Diego and Green Bay.

Maybe the Giants will get another break and both will lose.

Yeah today couldn’t have gone any better. A loss by the Boys and Philly next week and a win by our GMen and its a 3 way tie for first. Love it.
