Monday Morning Hangover: Hey, We Won!!!
The Giants got out of Dallas with a win, so there shouldn’t be a whole lot to lament about this morning, but I’ll give it a shot…..
Dallas OT Flozell Adams should never be voted to the Pro Bowl ever again…what a low-life bum he is. His “bush-league” trip of Justin Tuck in the second quarter was the mark of a real sore loser. Tuck injured his shoulder on the play and spent the rest of the evening on the sidelines with his arm in a sling.
Adams was penalized for tripping, negating a huge gain for Dallas, so some justice was served. It turns out that the trip is a signature move for Adams. Tuck was upset after the game, telling the News’ Ralph Vacchiano:
“I would’ve liked to have the rest of the game to punish him for that, but it didn’t happen.” Next time…..
The Giants got the bounces all game long, and some of them were Disney-like. The one that hit off Jason Witten‘s ankle into Kenny Phillips’ bread basket was as rare as they come. Felix Jones’ fumble of the ensuing kickoff right into Sinorice Moss’ hands (who then fumbled himself – Bryan Kehl fell on it) was gift. Mario Mannigham showed great concentration on loose balls twice in the game. First on his bobbled TD catch in the corner of the endzone and then on the tipped pass in the 4th quarter on final drive.
The O-line had a hard time run-blocking for the second straight week. The Giants had only 97 yards rushing on 26 carries for a 3.7 average – well below their usual 5.0.
I don’t know about you, but if I were Tom Coughlin I would consider utilizing the no-huddle more often and even employ it in the first half of games. Eli Manning seems to be unstoppable when he calls the plays from the line. This would give teams something to think about. primarily the fact that the Giants can score on you any time they want to…..
The defense was opportunistic, but not steady. Antonio Pierce called an audible which resulted in rookie corner Bruce Johnson intercepting a Tony Romo pass and taking it in for six. The D-line recorded no sacks and got shredded by the Dallas rushing tandem of Marion Barber and Felix Jones. That was unnerving. Hopefully Chris Canty can come in and plug up some of that middle.
I agree with Rich on the freezing of kickers…..they should a put a rule in that if the defense calls a time out once the linemen are set in their stance, the ball gets moved up five yards……that will surely stop this idiotic ‘tactic’
