Read: Boley Ready to Rejoin Team, Eyes Week Two Return
As previously reported, OLB Michael Boley has been taken off the PUP list and is set to join the team in afternoon drills today.
Glad to see him taken off this list now, although I (and everyone) realize that the Giants were not going to wait until the regular season, this does discount the possibility of him being out until week 6 or later.
Boley, who has been out since the start of minicamp with a torn labrum, is right on schedule with is return, which was originally slated as 8-10 weeks.
“It’s a big relief,” Boley said in the locker room Monday morning. “I’ve been sitting out and not being able to be involved in walkthroughs, (not) being able to be out there with the team and actually go through stuff with them. It’s been kind of frustrating, to be honest. I’m really excited to be back.”
Boley said that he won’t play in Thursday’s final preseason game, but does think he will be ready to go in week two. He also said that although it’s been “boring” to sit on the sidelines, he has made great mental strides in his acumen as a football player.
Bryan Kehl, Gerris Wilkinson, and Chase Blackburn have done pretty nicely filling in for the inured Boley, but there’s no doubt his addition to the football field will be a big one. I look at this whole next week as a big one for the weakside linebacker, and if his mental strides are there, I don’t doubt that he won’t be there physically as well.
