Philadelphia Eagles: Today marks the start of ‘Arizona Week’ for QB Donovan Mcnabb and the Eagles’ wide receivers. The time in Arizona is generally used for rookies to learn the ropes, and for team ‘bonding’ as well. (how cute) Rookies Jeremy Maclin, LeSean McCoy, and Cornelius Ingram will all be in attendance, with McCoy needing to really show up on the field.
Gary Cobb of GCobb.com writes that at the end of OTA’s, Maclin and Ingram seemed to grasp a hold of the West-Coast offense style, but McCoy still seemed a bit shaky.
Washington Redskins: With veteran wide receiver James Thrash cut from the Redskins, the competition for the fifth wide receiver spot has opened up. Undrafted rookie Jaison Williams is vying for that position. As of now, the Redskins depth chart looks a little something like this:
1. Santana Moss
2. Antwaan Randel El
3. Devin Thomas
5. Jaison Williams?
The undrafted rookie is listed at 6’5 237 lbs and says that his size gives him a legitimate advantage. Says the third leading receptions getter in Oregon history, “I’ll just be happy if I make the team.”
(This guy sounds a lot like Ramses Barden to me, both inĀ their size, their potential, and their spot right now in the depth chart)
Dallas Cowboys: In a report from Eric Edholm of ProFootballWeekly.com, there is news that Jason Garrett has been trying out using both Felix Jones and Marion Barber III on the field at the same time in split-back formations. They are also said to be using a lot of double TE packages with both Jason Witten and Martellus Bennett, whom Edholm writes “should not be overlooked.”
Having both these guys on the field at the same time will be bad news for any opposing defense, surprised the Cowboys never explored this option earlier.
