The Giants best pick of the draft came in the third round, 85th overall, the wide receiver Ramses Barden from Cal Poly of the oddly named Football Championship Division.
The Giants were so enamored with Barden that traded their third-round pick and their fifth-round pick to Philadelphia to get him.
Barden may have played against lesser competition but he shows amazing athletic ability. He’s tall, at 6-foot-6, and strong, at a solid 229 lbs. He’s a tough guy who will be able to fight off defenders at the NFL level. He’s got good leaping ability and has decent speed. Scouts say he is intelligent and can can adjustments on the fly.
His highlight film show absolute dominance of the competition level he’s clearly ready to take a step up from.
Of all the players the Giants selected, my favorite pick of the draft, and the player I believe will have the biggest impact is Ramses Barden. I think he will be a fine compliment for Hakeem Nicks who is the physical opposite of Barden.
Just as the Giants have running backs that give defenses different looks to content with, the Giants will now have four receivers that bring different things to the table, and hopefully keep them defenses off guard.
