Tuck Talks Boldin, Edwards, and Burress
Justin Tuck had a lot to say today about potential wide receivers for the Giants, and one who is no longer with them.

On Braylon Edwards…
“Me and Braylon go back a long ways. We were the same draft class, we played each other at Michigan and Notre Dame. I’ve had a couple of run-ins with him. But he’s a pro bowl wide receiver for a reason. He had a down year last year, for whatever reason that is, who knows, but obviously the addition of a wide receiver of that nature would definitely help this football team.”
“He can lock down one side of the field when he’s playing his best football. He has the same kind of factor that Plaxico has, a big strong receiver who can down the field in a hurry and stretch a defense, which has the ability to open up our running game. We all know how good our running game can be when you can’t put that other safety in the box. He has the goods to do those things.”
“I know Braylon is not the type of guy, a look-at-me type player. From what I know about him he comes to work every day, he keeps his mouth closed. You don’t hear a lot of things about him off the football field. I think that’s the type of guy, especially in an environment like NYC where it’s easy to kind of get caught up in all the lights of NYC and loose your focus of what your primary job is. Do I think he’s a good fit here? Quite possibly, yes.”
On Anquan Boldin…
“I had conversations with Anquan at the Pro Bowl and it was very positive as far as his want to leave Arizona and quite possibly end up in New York. Obviously those were preliminary conversations and didn’t have any weight to them.”
“As far as fits in this locker room, it’s all about their intentions as far as coming in every day and working and doing what’s best for this football team. I don’t see any reason why Boldin would be a better fit than Edwards or vice-versa. As far as how the offense goes, a better person to ask that question to would probably be our offensive coordinator or Eli Manning because those are the guys who’ll be dealing with him on a first-hand basis.”
On Plaxico Burress…
“In the back of our minds we knew this could happen eventually (Burress being released). We weren’t necessarily expecting it but we knew there was a great chance. We knew there was more of a chance of him not being here this year than him being here this year.”
“I can’t sit there and saw ‘Wow, I didn’t see that coming.’ I think everyone around this organization and around football can understand the reasonings for it. I think they could have understood the reasoning for it if they had decided to keep him too. But the bottom line is the Giants made a decision they thought was best for their football team.”
“…we need some guys to step up and fill that void. Obviously we have guys on this staff who can do that, but me talking about it or them talking about it ain’t going to do us no good. We still have to go out on the football field and compensate, make up for what we’ll be lacking with Plaxico not being there.”
