Coughlin Radio Interview

...posted by Peter Wade...

Yesterday Giants head coach Tom Coughlin spoke with WJXL radio in Jacksonville.

Among other things Coughlin spoke about:

How the Giants ended the season:

“We needed the BYE. We probably wouldn’t have gotten Brandon Jacobs back, maybe not Justin Tuck. We got those guys back. But you know, we held them to a reasonable amount of points where we should have had a reasonable opportunity to win. We were on the fringe of the green enough times to win, but we just didn’t get it done. So that disappointment on the part of all of us, I think is going to turn into great motivation, great inspiration as we get ready to start the off-season program March 16th.”

On the Giants off-season acquisitions:

“We felt we needed a LB, so Michael Boley we brought him in right away, right off the bat. We had an opportunity to get Rocky Bernard right off the bat. And then Chris Canty came in right away the next day, quite frankly I didn’t know how that was going to go. I was a little bit concerned because of the Washington affair with Chris having some numbers come out of there that were very, very high. But Chris is excited about being a New York Giant as any player I’ve ever been around.”
