Giants Sign Safety C.C. Brown

By Rich Resch on Mar 04, 2009, 3:59 pm

According to Mike Garafolo of The Star Ledger, the Giants have come to terms with free agent safety C.C. Brown. The length of the deal is one year, but other details are not yet known. Brown had been a starter with the Texans, but missed most of the 2008 season with a forearm injury.

From what I’ve heard about Brown, this seems like a nice under the radar signing that will  at worst provide the Giants with quality depth.  At best, Brown could challenge Kenny Phillips and Michael Johnson for a starting safety gig.

Another depth move. C.C. Brown was good in run support for the texans. Kenny and CC would be a good combo. Michael Johnson as a backup and draft another safety in the 3rd round. Good move. The only thing I see is we are reaching the cap. Someone is getting cut, my guess Robbins or Cofield.

I agree with you that the Giants have to cut somebody, but I seriously doubt that it will be either Robbins or Cofield. Robbins is still our best dt and Cofield is too good and young to be cut. If we somehow acquire a receiver, maybe we can cut Plax. Also, Danny Clark is also a possibility to be cut with the addition of Boley and progression of Kehl.
