Original Post:

David White of The San Francisco Chronicle reports that free agent safety Brian Dawkins has left the Eagles for the Denver Broncos. Dawkins, 35, was thought to have lost a step last season, but a rejuvenated performance has quieted his critics.

His ability to hit hard and late have not quite eroded. Glad he won’t be injuring any Giants this year.

I hope he goes…While he may have lost a step this guy could not have playted the bad guy role any better with his black visor, occasional dirty hits and his abilitly to take off anyones head at anytime. For 13 years he patrolled the eagles secondary and I am thrilled to see him go. All NFC east tight ends, including Kevin Boss, can breathe a sigh of relief with him in Denver, if in fact he goes.

Rich, you and I argued over whether or not he was dirty, and 2 minutes into this years playoff game I conceeded and called him a “dirty scumbag.” Passion of the moment aside I think Brian was a brutally nasty safety who played on the edge of dirty, and quite frankly thats what I want in my last line of defense.

I say good bye and good riddance….any one else want to say a goodbye to good ol brian?
