Eli Due For A Giant Extension

...posted by Anthony De Rosa...

Eli Manning’s contract expires after the 2009-10 season, and the Giants are reported to have been having elipreliminary discussion regarding an extension, the Daily News reports.

According to agents, Eli’s deal should be in the neighborhood of seven- or eight-years worth $110 million-$120 million with $40 million in guarantees. The deal is stretched over many years to allow for cap space.

That would make Eli, who is 28,  the eighth $100 million dollar man ever in football. Among them are Donovan McNabb (12 years, $115million), Carson Palmer (nine years, $118.75 million), and former Falcons quarterback Michael Vick (10 years, $130 million).

The Giants have not been immune from the falling economy. The Daily News also reports that Giants are fighting bankrupt Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. for $301.8 million the team says it is owed as part of a financing deal for its new $1.6 billion stadium. It is not believed that this would effect the Giants solvency to offer Eli or others new contracts.

Regressed? This year was his best year by far.

Did you see the last game? Or the last few games for that matter? The guy can’t complete a pass unless the receiver is 6′6″

WHY??????????????????

He looked terrible in that last game. Yeah bad play calling, blah blah but his balls looked like wounded animals.

Let’s make Eli earn it with another solid season. Go re-sign Jacobs, get another WR, and worry about Eli after he proves that his super bowl win wasn’t a fluke.

Also, teach him to throw a spiral.
