Coaching Market Shrinking For Spags

...posted by Anthony De Rosa...

Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo was a hot commodity with several head coaching positions open around the league a short time ago, but now with the Broncos and Browns having filled those positions, his likelihood of leaving the Giants seems to be diminishing.

The Jets appear to be locking in on Rex Ryan, while the Tigers Lions seem to be headed towards signing Jim Schwartz. The Cheifs are still looking for a GM, leaving the Rams head coaching job the last available.

This is great news. I hope the Giants can keep him around for as long as possible. I’m not certain he won’t wind up still signing somewhere but it is comforting to know it is becoming less likely.

Tigers? :D Already in baseball mode?

But that is awesome. I really do think the Giants should make Spags associate head coach so when Coughlin retires it is his job to get.. Seriously how much longer is Coughlin going to coach? I can see next year for sure and maybe a year after that depending on how the Giants do in 2009.

That’s great news for the Giants and the fans. I guess the owners around the league just looked at the last loss and figured he’s not worth it. No one ever said they were too bright.
