Pierce Not Likely To Miss Time

By Anthony De Rosa on Dec 07, 2008, 5:28 pm

ESPN‘s Chris Mortensen reports via a Giants source that if Antonio Pierce is indicted or charged, the NFL would let due process run its course before deciding on disciplinary action. It appears unlikely that he would miss any regular season or playoff games.

Pierce spoke with authorities on Friday and the New York Daily News reported that according to a law enforcement source, the meeting “was very productive.”

“He was very forthright. He was very contrite. He said he didn’t know in advance about the gun,” the source told the Daily News.

An unnamed Giants source was vocal in his displeasure regarding Plaxico Burress‘ actions

“How many times does an individual get to put a whole organization through the stuff he’s put us through,” the Giants source told Mortensen. “And you only know part of it. It’s mind boggling.

“The organization is guilty of only one thing: Helping somebody repeatedly who refuses to help himself.”

The questions will now come in light of today’s loss if the Giants have been exposed in Plaxico’s absence. I think it is an inaccurate assessment since the Giants have already shown they can be productive in the passing game without Burress.

I think today’s loss is more a case of not being disciplined on defense, not wrapping up on tackles, and eventually Brian Westbrook is going to find a way to beat you. I’ll give the receiveing core a pass this week before I see them as an achilles heel.
