The New York Post reports that Plaxico Burress used the alias “Harris Smith” when he was admitted to the hospital for his accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound on Friday night.The Post also reports that Burress spent 90 minutes after the shooting making calls in an effort to find a hospital where the emergency care would be provided in a discreet manner.

He settled on New York-Cornell,  and the hospital did not report the gunshot wound, in violation of New York Penal Law Section 265.25 Failure to make such report is a class A misdemeanor. Burress told hospital staff that the incident had occurred at an Applebee’s.

Burress did not speak to the media when he entered the police station this morning and was not visibly limping less than three full days after putting a bullet through his own thigh.

According to the New York Daily News, Burress was “laughing” on Sunday night.

“He called me laughing and grinning” said Brandon Jacobs. “He is doing fine.  He is feeling good.  I called him and made a few jokes about the situation and he laughed — which is what I wanted to hear.”

While he has spoken to Jacobs, apparently Plaxico hasn’t found time to return Jerry Reese’s phone calls. Reese and Mara said they hadn’t spoken to Burress. “I reached out to him,” Reese said. “I did not get a return phone call.”
