On if he figured they would pass more in this game:
“We knew coming in that we were going to have to throw the ball. They’re good at stopping the run. We knew that would be their main focus, to not let us get started with the run game. They were going to have a safety in the box a bunch. We knew that we were going to have to be successful throwing the ball. I thought we did a good job of doing that. Guys stepped up and made some big plays for us at crucial times. It was a good game to come back out and get our passing game going a little bit. We feel confident doing whatever a defense wants us to do. If they have two safeties back, we should be able to run the ball well, and if they are single high, we’ve got to be able to throw it.”
On his reaction to Plaxico Burress leaving the game early:
“We weren’t worried about it. Obviously he’s a great player for us, but he really didn’t practice on Thursday or Friday, so we got work with all the guys. I feel confident with whoever is in there, that they are going to step up and make plays for us. Whether it’s [Domenik] Hixon, Sinorice Moss, Amani [Toomer], Steve Smith, they all made crucial catches for us at big times and were a big part of us winning this game.”
On if he allowed himself to drift back to the Super Bowl victory in this stadium:
“It’s a totally different feel. It’s a different time. We never really compared it to the last time we were here. We knew we’d have a tough contest with Arizona. They are playing extremely well. Their defense is tough. Their offense can score. So we tried to focus on this game, just concentrate and play this game for what it is.”
On if he felt different coming into this game knowing they would pass more:
“I didn’t feel any different. I’ve thought for the last couple weeks that we were going to have to throw the ball. We just happened to run the ball really well in those games, so I wasn’t called upon to throw it as much. But I had a feeling that in this game, we really were going to have to throw it well. The guys did a great job. We just wanted to get out there and know that when we have to, when we need to throw it, we are able to do that and do it well.”
On his impressions of the Cardinals:
“Their defense is physical. They did a good job stopping the run and getting pressure on me at times, without blitzing too much. Then their offense obviously can move the ball pretty well up and down the field. It doesn’t take them long to strike and put points on the board.”
Domenik Hixon
On his success on kick returns today:
“The 10 guys up front did a heck of a job blocking. A couple of times, I don’t think I was touched until the last guy got me, and that’s on me to make him miss. They did their job; I just have to finish it off for them.”
On the impact having a full week of practice at receiver had on him:
“To get the reps in practice is a good thing, so you’ve been there before and been through the situations. Sam Madison and I have been going at it all week. He really gets me ready for the games. He’s a heck of a corner, along with the other guys.”
On stepping up today with Plaxico Burress hurt:
“One thing that we say is when somebody goes down, we like to step up. In the receiver room, we try to take pride in that. We all just practiced hard throughout the whole week, and whatever happens is going happen. We don’t want anybody to go down, but if so, we just try to step up to the best of our ability.”
On the different blitzes they used against Kurt Warner in the second half:
“We had to try to do something. We knew the Cardinals were a second-half football team. They score a lot of their points in the third quarter. So we definitely wanted to come out and have a good start as far as limiting what they were able to do. One of the reasons we did that was that our secondary did a good job of banging the wide receivers, throwing off their timing, and showing Kurt a lot of different packages and a lot of different looks.”
On playing without Brandon Jacobs and Plaxico Burress for most of this game:
“We were down a couple of stars today, but we feel very confident in the people that are going to back up anybody on this football team. We’ve got so much confidence and so much talent on this team that we didn’t really miss a beat. Obviously it would have been a luxury to have Big 27 back there and Plaxico on the outside, but we didn’t have them, guys stepped up, and that’s kind of the motto of this football team.”
Terrell Thomas
On their defensive performance today against the Cardinals:
“It’s just bend don’t break. They made plays all down the field. They drove the ball on us, but in the red zone we held them to two field goals, and that was big in the outcome of the game.”
On his interception in the fourth quarter:
“They ran the same play earlier. I kind of jumped the route and didn’t play it right. I saw it this time, recognized it and made the play.”
