Couglin’s Conference Call

...posted by David Jacks...

Here is what Coughlin had to say about the injuries sustained in Sunday’s game when Brandon Jacobs played against Ray Lewis (shockingly both teams put 10 other men on the field as well, despite the media’s claim that only these 2 would play)

Brandon Jacobs will undergo a standard MRI on his swollen knee, but he is walking without a limp . At this point there does not seem to be too much concern about this particular injury.

That said, anytime an MRI is being done there is some cause for concern, hopefully everything comes up negative for the baby rhinoceros/bull.

Aaron Ross will also undergo an MRI for his hamstring. It was first reported to be a calf strain, but in post game interviews Ross talked about his lower hamstring and Coughlin backed that up in today’s call. Ross did play with the twinge so the Giants are not overly concerned with this injury as well.

Again, it’s an MRI so we will wait and see. Going into Arizona, with the likes of Boldin, Fitzgerald ,and Breaston the Giants will need all of the secondary to be healthy. On that note, Corey Webster and James Butler seemed to be fine after battling injuries throughout the week. Kevin Dockery might also take over for Terrell Thomas in the Nickel as he worked in practice twice last week (albeit in a limited fashion). Thomas flourished in his man coverage, but seemed to struggle with his zone assignments. It’s always good for a rookie to get some time, but I think Dockery will supplant him for now.
