McKenzie Punishments

By David Jacks on Nov 14, 2008, 4:36 pm

This from Tom Rock OF Newsday:

“Typical punishments for DUI infractions:

First offense — “Membership” in the league’s substance-abuse program

Second offense — A fine

Third offense — A suspension

Now, we don’t know for sure that McKenzie isn’t already in the substance abuse program. But even if he is, it usually isn’t until the third strike that a player is hit with a suspension and we probably would have known about it if this was his third run-in. Chances are that McKenzie will not have to miss any games. Plus, those fines and/or suspensions wouldn’t be leveled until his legal process has come to a conclusion. Who knows when that will be.

Just to add this, under the CBA, teams are not allowed to punish players for drug or alcohol infractions like this. That falls to the league.”

Considering Tom Coughlin said Kareem was a model citizen I am going to assume (I know, I know) that he is not already in the substance abuse program. If so, this should all get swept under the rug pretty neatly.

For the record , as reader “Steal Home Jose,” points out, it is terrifying to think of how many drinks it must take for a behemoth like Kareem to get drunk. I imagine enough alcohol to hook up with the entire cast of “Biggest Loser,” while discovering a new bail out plan for the economy which is based on the term “freezer pants,” all while eating a giant sack of 10.” Wow that is drunk, shame on you Kareem.
