The Giants continue their Super Bowl defense with a prime-time match up in Philadelphia.
The Vitals:
Game: New York Giants (7-1) @ Philadelphia Eagles (5-3)
TV: NBC Sunday Night Football. Al Michaels will be in charge of play by play, the legendary John Madden will provide color commentary, and Andrea Kramer will be reporting from the sidelines.
Radio: WFAN (660AM). Coverage runs from 6:15 PM-Midnight.
Time: 8:15 PM EST
Game Notes:
- For the first time this season, both Kickers John Carney and Lawrence Tynes are active for a game. I assume Tynes will handle kick-offs and long field goals and Carney will get the short to mid-range field goal attempts
- Kenny Phillips will make his first NFL start in place of the injured James Butler. Phillips will play his natural position of Free Safety while starter Michael Johnson will slide over to Strong Safety.
- The Giants lead the regular season series with the Eagles 78-66-2. The Giants swept the season series last year.
- The Giants and Eagles are ranked fifth and sixth in yards per game, respectively. The two teams are ranked third and fifth in yards allowed per game, respectively.
- The Giants are the second-ranked team in the NFL in terms of points per game (28.3) and fourth in points allowed per game (16.1). The Eagles are fifth in points per game (27.5) and seventh in points allowed per game (18.0).
- Eli Manning has not thrown for 200 yards since week 5 against Seattle. Donovan McNabb has not thrown for under 250 yards since week 5 against against Washington.
- Giants leading receiver Plaxico Burress has not had a 100 yard game since week 1 against Washington. Eagles leading receiver DeSean Jackson has not had a 100 yard game since week 2 at Dallas.
- According to NBC’s Tiki Barber, the Giants are set to “run away with the NFC East” if they can beat the Eagles tonight.
