Mcnabb Prefers Strahan’s New Job

Michael Strahan sacked Donovan McNabb more then any other Quarterback he ever played against, 12.5 times in total. Today, Donovan McNabb reflected on his time in the league with Strahan.

“We had a lot of fun,” McNabb said. “Mike and I talked back and forth, laughing and joking during the game. But we’d continued to push each other. And we’d talk to each other maybe before the game, talk to each other after the game, and just try to bring the best out of one another. Will I miss him this week? No, unless he comes on the sideline in a suit and talks to me. I’m glad that he is not out there padding up wearing 92. I’ve told him that I appreciated him retiring and to stay retired. But he’s had a great career. And I can at least say when I’m all said and done and I look back on my career, that I played with one of the best defensive players that ever played the game.”

I loved seeing 92 line up at end, almost as much as I enjoyed seeing number 56 line up in a two point stance. That said, number 91 is growing on me fast, and I hope he replaces Strahan, and takes his rightful spot, which is securely on top of Donovan Mcnabb’s back.

One of my favorite things to watch in the more recent Giants/Eagles games was Strahan battling against Jon Runyan. Both were very good players, and extremely competitive. Fortunately for Giants fans, Strahan usually got the better of those exchanges. But it would be interesting to read/hear what Runyan has to say about going against the Giants and not having to face Strahan for the first time in a while.

Ask and you shall receive. Here are some comments from Runyan, made right after Strahan retired.

“He’ll tell you he is not the fastest guy in the world but he is very smart,” he said. “He knows how to play the game and if you make a mistake he is going to take advantage of it. He is very good at that, just being patient, waiting for his time to come.

In the last month, Runyan was with Strahan going over old clips with NFL Films. Runyan said it was just like spending time with an old friend.

“You have to have the ability to turn it on and turn it off on and off the field because you can’t live like that,” he said. “You can’t live like a crazy man running around the field hitting people all the time. That’s what makes it fun because you can sit down and talk to a guy like that because you respect each other professionally and you just go about your business.”
