postGame: Giants 44 Seahawks 6

by Anthony De Rosa on October 5th, 2008 at 6:59 pm

The Giants cruised to 4-0 today with a pummeling of the Seahawks to the tune of 44 to 6. The Giants have not been good historically coming back from a bye week, with a 4-15 record, but they had their most dominating performance yet against a better team than they’ve faced thus far, all while missing their star receiver.

Plaxico Burress‘ absence did not seem to cause the Giants to lose a step, as Dominek Hixon stepped up and rang up 106 yards and his first career touchdown reception before leaving the game with a concussion. Hixon looked poised to have a huge day but he suffered a helmet to helmet collision causing him to miss the second half.

The Giants pulled ahead by such a wide margin that most starters, including Eli Manning and Brandon Jacobs, were pulled in the fourth quarter. Eli completed 19 of 25 for 267 yards and broke his rating record once again (136.6), while Jacobs scored two touchdowns and racked up 136 yards. Jacobs had the longest single run of his career, a 44 yarder on the first series of the game.

All told, the Giants compiled 523 yards of total offense, the most over a single game in six years. Sinorice Moss caught his first career touchdown pass, a 23-yard pass on the opening play of the second quarter and another from David Carr who came in to replace Manning. Amani Toomer had two big catches for 22 and 29 yards.

The defense limited the Seahawks to only two field goals and 187 yards of total offense.

John Carney extended his streak of successful field goals to 12, hitting all three attempts today.

OT Kareem McKenzie left the game in the first half with a concussion.

The Giants will return next week for Monday Night Football on ESPN against the Browns in Cleveland.

    Great Win.

Im again amazed by the number of supposed long time giant fans who get up and leave a game before the fourth quarter starts.

This shows the “fans” who attend the games are spoiled beyond belief. I hope the one good thing to come from PSLs is a more dedicated, loud game day crowd.

Nothing much to say other than we played a FANTASTIC game, but let’s hope Hixon and McKenzie are ok. Both left with concussions.
