Burress was fined 40-50 times

According to FOX Sports, Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress has been fined 40-50 times as a member of the New York Giants before his recent suspension. Burress was suspended by the team for missing team meetings, ignoring phone calls, and other problems that were piling up. An anonymous source explained the situation:

“He doesn’t care about the fines but if you don’t let him play … that’s all he cares about. He just wants to play football. He pretty much put Jerry Reese and Coach in a bad spot on this one. It had to stop and just fining him again wasn’t going to do it.”

Obviously after fining Burress at least 40 times, it doesn’t seem to scare him. Unfortunately, it seems like suspending him is the only way to make him learn from his mistakes.

    Wait, so he held out for a bigger contract so that he could afford to give the money back to the team in fines? Is it odd that I absolutely HATE Plaxico Burress? At least Shockey had heart.

    If playing a full season on a badly injured ankle (and playing at a very high level) shows a lack of heart, then I’m not sure what your definition of heart is. On top of that, from everything I’ve read, Burress puts hours upon hours of time in the video room studying game tape. I certainly don’t have the patience to do that. To me, that’s heart. Now, I don’t know anything about these 40-50 suspensions, but I’m guessing neither do you. So we really can’t say what that’s all about.

    But, to say he doesn’t have heart? eh, agree to disagree…

      He has heart enough to get his lazy @ss on the field so he can get paid, thats about it. He signed his big extension and then stopped coming to practice and wouldn’t pick up phone calls – how can you call this player committed at all? If this was any other job in the corporate world he’d be fired immediately. Nothing about Plaxico Burress will ever say “professional”. Hes a joke.
