The Giants defeated the St. Louis Rams today by a score of 41 to 13. For a full box score head over to SNY.tv

You wouldn’t know it by the final score but this was a fairly close game up until the fourth quarter, when the Giants put up 21 points. The Giants only allowed a single touchdown pass by Marc Bulger which was deflected and caught by Torry Holt while he was laying on his back in the end zone. The rest of the Rams scoring came on a pair of long field goals as the Giants continued their road dominance from last season, extending their streak to 11 games.

The defense was relentless, sacking Bulger five times, Fred Robbins and Justin Tuck each with a pair. Tuck intercepted a pass in the final moments of the fourth quarter and returned it for 41 yards and a touchdown, putting the final nail in the Ram’s coffin.

After Holt’s flukey touchdown, the Giants countered with a 82-yard drive capped off by Ahmad Bradshaw, who scored two touchdowns today after being mostly absent in the Giants opener. Brandon Jacobs still managed to run for 92 yards, and even Derrick Ward got in on the action with 58 yards of his own.

Eli Manning threw three touchdown passes for 260 yards and didn’t throw a single interception. He hit Plaxico Burress for a long 33-yard strike in the opening quarter and was an effective 20 for 29 on the day.

John Carney continued to fill in nicely for the injured Lawrence Tynes, he hit two field goals for 33 and 39 yards and has yet to miss an attempt, going 5 for 5 in the first two games.

This had trap game written all over it, the Rams are not looking like a first rate football team right now and the Giants didn’t allow that fact to turn down the intensity. The Giants were relentless and showed total focus. It helps prove they should be able to feed off the fairly easy schedule ahead of them in the first half of the season.
