When you are playing against a 3-4 defense, is it way different than playing a 4-3? Did that have a lot to do with some of the things that were going on tonight?

Well, I think we should be pretty accustomed to the 3-4. We played against it last week. With Dallas every year we get used to it. It is a defense where you have to be consistent. You can’t have negative plays. They will give you those three and four yard gains. You’ve got to be able to convert on third and short. We didn’t do that today, so we didn’t keep the ball long enough to get some scoring drives.

You have been throwing the ball very well this whole preseason. Talk about that a little bit and what is going on with your receivers even with the starting guys not there all the time?

I think our younger receivers and the guys out there are playing well. They are getting open in a timely fashion. That’s good to see, guys are making plays. You know, we are mixing some young guys in there, getting everybody in the action a little bit. That’s positive and we still have a lot to get better at. That is what these next couple of weeks are for and then we will open it up. We aren’t throwing everything at them. I think we are doing things well. We aren’t making many mistakes and the plays will start falling.

Are you concerned not getting the tight end involved as much as you would like to?

I don’t think we got one in the starting group to catch one today. It depends on what the defense is doing and the players. Boss is a weapon; we can get him into some action. We just have to keep working. It all depends on the defense and how people are playing.

Did some of what they were showing tonight, lead him to do more blocking, or max protect situations?

Some of the routes we were running, sometimes he is a primary, sometimes he is not, based on the coverage, and what is going on. When we went to the two minute drive, we went to a four wide personnel and he is not in there. The tight end position made some catches, but it wasn’t the actual tight end.

What’s your overall assessment?

Well, disappointed we didn’t get any points on the board. I don’t think we made many mistakes. We just didn’t convert on some third and short yardage situations. Missed a pass here, tried to run and didn’t get it. It’s something we need to work on, when you can’t convert those third downs and it is hard to maintain some long drives.
