What is being said about the injuries: Danny Clark with a groin; Osi (Umenyiora), we will see with the knee issue there; Craig Dahl with a knee, we will have to find out more about that as well; and I think Na’Shan Goddard may have gotten a concussion as well there late. (I found out) just as we were coming into the locker room, I wasn’t aware of that, but that is the case.
I didn’t think offensively we played very well. We came in here knowing full well that it was a half and a half and that it would be a good go for our team as well as the Jets playing their starters for a half. We went ahead and followed through with that plan offensively and we had a chance. We were down there in the tight green zone and didn’t come away with any points at all. Anytime you do that you are pretty much going to regret that toward the end of the game. Our defense, when you come off the first half and it is nothing to nothing, somebody is doing something decent. We didn’t protect the quarterback very well tonight on the whole and we have to look at that. Obviously that is a huge problem for us. I wasn’t very pleased offensively. Defensively in the first half was okay. We gave up the quick score when we did have the lead, punted the ball to just midfield and they took the ball in right from there. Otherwise it had been a difficult game in terms of field position. We had put them back early in the game very deep in their territory and let them out of the hole without getting any points with regard to that as well. I am concerned because of the nature of how quickly we play again. I will have to look and see how we are nicked-up-wise and then make our plan from there.
Did you see what exactly happened to Osi Umenyiora on the play when he was injured?
No, I didn’t. I just noticed that he was headed down toward the ground and seemed to be in some pain, but otherwise I didn’t see it.
What is your level of optimism on the Umenyiora injury?
I am thinking it is going to be okay. We won’t know until tomorrow what exactly they will have to do if they have to do anything. We are just going to have to wait and see.
Would you say that the team was sloppy offensively?
That is your word. I didn’t see any… what turnovers did you see? We didn’t have any penalties, we didn’t have any turnovers.
Missed blocks?
I would have to look at the tape to see that.
What about the tight end position not being a factor in the game?
It is not the way it is intended to be, but obviously we have to improve some there. I don’t know how well we blocked at that position as well.
The doctors on the sideline said there was no ligament damage on Umenyiora’s knee?
I am not going to know anything until they do some more research on that.
Will he have a MRI tomorrow?
Yeah. My initial… the doctors told me there was no ligament damage.
How do you think David Carr performed tonight?
Well, we didn’t get any points. We had one touchdown and that is really what has to happen. The ball has to get put in the end zone. Again, he was pressured and we didn’t respond very well to it, so I am disappointed in that period. We work as much and as hard as anybody against a team… our own defense blitzes and has a tremendous pressure package and we work against that all the time so for me to see us have trouble tonight with the holding up protection-wise doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. We are back to work.
What about Josh Huston’s performance kicking tonight? Are you considering doing anything there?
We will see. We will evaluate that.
