Osi Carried Off Field, Injures Knee

By Anthony De Rosa on Aug 23, 2008, 8:39 pm

Giants DE Osi Umenyiora injured his left knee and was carted off the field in the beginning of the second quarter of Saturday’s game against the Jets

On a third-down play, Umenyiora was rushing Brett Favre when he was pushed by Jets tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson. Umenyiora briefly followed the play, then went down.

Umenyiora is getting an X-ray and the extent of the injury was not yet known. He was unable to put any weight on the leg and was helped off the field by two trainers. Mathias Kiwanuka could be moved back to defensive end if Umenyiora misses time.

LB Danny Clark left the game with a strained groin.

UPDATE 8:50PM: X-rays were negative, but tissue damage couldn’t be ruled out until swelling goes down. Umenyiora said the knee locked up on him. He will be re-evaluated tomorrow.

    Eliminate Preseason (yes I’m kidding).

Hopefully it isn’t serious enough where he misses a lot of time. A game or two, okay, anything more will really really hurt.

Does Reese have Strahan on speed-dial?

And now reports say Osi will most likely miss the season. . . .

    Uhh Ohhh!

I guess either calling Michael or moving Kiwi back to DE are the two best options. Starting Wynn isn’t a good idea, IMO.
