Tuesday Evening Camp Review

by Anthony De Rosa on August 6th, 2008 at 12:16 pm

Brandon London joined the barely walking wounded among the Giants camp with a hip flexor. Plaxico Burress (ankle), Amani Toomer (leg), Steve Smith (groin), Mario Manningham (quad) and David Tyree are all still unable to practice as well. The Giants receivers who are practicing are Domenik Hixon, Sinorice Moss, Michael Jennings, Craphonso Thorpe and D.J. Hall. Sam Madison (sports hernia) and OT Shane Olivea (back) missed the evening session as well.

Eli Manning tried to look at the lack of his regular receivers in practice as a good thing, giving other players a chance to get tested.

“It’s not bad,” Manning said. “Sometimes it’s actually good, because you get to test out some of these young receivers. It’s good to get these guys some extra reps so they can have a better grip on the offense. The games and practices tell us a lot about some of these young guys, who can help this team, who can be the fourth or fifth wide receiver. It shouldn’t change your reads; you’re still going with reads that the defense is telling you. Hopefully some of these guys start making some plays and develop a better understanding of when and how to get open.”

Some highlights of the session included safety James Butler intercepting a Manning pass intended for Hixon and a laser beam caught by tight end Kevin Boss along the sideline.

Boss is showing a TON of ability in the passing attack.. seems to be meshing well with Eli and catching everything in sight.
