The Associated Press reports that former Giants general manager Ernie Accorsi has been hired as a consultant to the NFL and will also co-chair a new general managers advisory committee.
Accorsi will assist the league in monitoring compliance with rules and policies and achieving better communication with senior club football personnel.
The advisory role will include looking at use of technology in the game, player development, scouting, and how to improve the Pro Bowl, Scouting Combine, and NFL Draft.
Giants center Shaun O’Hara, spoke today regarding Jeremy Shockey and Plaxico Burress.
“I think there is a right way to do things,” he said when asked about a player trying to get the most money he can in his contract. “I’ve always felt that as a player you go out there, you put your best foot forward and as long as you give a 100 percent effort every time, you’ll be compensated for it. You are either with us or you are against us,” he said. “And I think the players are doing a good job of focusing on their daily tasks and their jobs. As long as we all continue to do that this team will succeed. My feeling is it is a disservice to all the other guys who are out there working hard and practicing and doing their jobs,” he said. “To focus on the negatives, sometimes we expect that but there are a lot of guys out there doing good things every day. We have a lot of young guys who are getting a lot of good reps and I think that should be the focus.”
Shockey has not joined his other injured teammate on the sidelines at camp. When coach Tom Coughlin was asked if he is okay with Shockey not participating in practice he responded “Of course not”
I like that O’Hare is not afraid to speak out on what ultimately is the most important thing, and that bottom line the team comes first. He’s also calling out the media for focusing on Shockey and Burress while there are plenty of players going about their business in camp.

Giants Super Bowl rings that were intended for members of the team’s staff were among $2 million worth of items stolen from a jewelry company in Attleboro, Massachusetts, reports WCVB in Boston.
The rings, made of white gold and set with diamonds were designed by Tiffany and valued at $25,000 each.
The thieves cut a hole in the roof and stole a safe that weighed at least 1,000 pounds, and among the items contained were the Super Bowl rings.
Police have no suspects as of yet.
Mass, eh? Something smells fishy to me. If they couldn’t win those rings, maybe they figured they’d just take em.
Hat tip to The Humble Toe for the news.
In light of Michael Strahan retiring, I would like to get a sense of how confident fans are in the Giants.
Bob Glauber at Newsday lists his top ten Giants of all time. Michael Strahan checks in at number two, head over to Newsday to see who winds up on top and how the rest of the list breaks down.
I’m curious what your top ten lists would be, post them in the comments section.
