Strahan: Shockey Doesn’t Want To Play Here
...posted by Peter Wade...
Fox Sports held a news conference today to introduce Michael Strahan as their newest addition to their NFL pre-game show. Newsday’s Neil Best was in attendance and writes that Strahan said the Giants should rid themselves of Jeremy Shockey:
“It’s a situation where he doesn’t want to be here; he doesn’t want to play here. That’s obvious with everything that’s going on. I don’t think you really gain much by keeping a guy around…You can’t have that tension. You have to have guys there who are happy to be there, not someone who is there and doing his job and no doubt he’d do his job very well, but you just don’t need that extra in the locker room, especially since he is one of the older guys, one of the leaders. You don’t need that out of one of your leaders. So I think the best thing for them and for Shockey is if they have the opportunity, let him go.”
I thinks it is clear that Strahan is not going to hold back on his opinions since he’s already letting loose about his former teammates. I look forward to Fox’s pre-game shows now more than ever. I’m not sure if Strahan’s presence will be a ratings boom for Fox but his personality and candor can only be a plus.

Stray isnt saying anything here that everyone doesnt already know..
after all his ending statement was
“I’m not telling you anything that’s a secret. He doesn’t want to be there.”
Its good to hear it from a team leader but i’d just as soon he not pull a Tiki and rip his mates on teh other side of the mic.
You wonder if he’s trying to build his reputation as an “honest” broadcaster by saying this now. Despite his reputation on the field, even if it’s true, you don’t speak for another player unless you have evidence that this is true.
