With Strahan Gone, Its Tuck’s Time

by Anthony De Rosa on June 9th, 2008 at 5:14 pm

Following Michael Strahan‘s retirement, defensive end Justin Tuck will likely move outside and the Giants will use Mathias Kiwanuka as a pass rusher.

Strahan helped mentor defensive ends Osi Umenyiora (13 sacks last season) and Tuck who had 64 tackles and 9.5 sacks as a third end in 2007. Tuck admitted the Giants will miss having his veteran presence on the field and in the locker room.

“We all know that he could come back and play a few more years if he wanted to. We have a better chance at winning with him on the field”

In a game against the Jets back in August of last year, John Branch at the New York Times wrote of how well Tuck played as Strahan’s replacement after he injured his foot.

agreed TUCK is the MAN .. KIWI will get his snaps at LB on obvious run downs then move Tuck inside on 3rd downs and Kiwi to End for the four aces package.
